About Giustiniani Palace

The Giustiniani palace has been built between the end of the 16th century and the first decades of the 17th century.

It is called “Giustiniani alle Zattere” for the Giustiniani family, one of the 24 most ancient venetian families, has inherited the palace in the 17th century and because of its location in the area of Venice called Zattere, facing the Giudecca Canal. Today the owner is the countess Cecilia of Collalto and San Salvatore.

According to the tradition the Giustiniani family descends directly from two Byzantine Emperors, for this reason it has a coat of arms that shows the two-headed eagle of the Eastern Roman Empire.
